Manika Garg, M&T'11
President 2010-2011
Vice President 2009-2010
Show Chair 2008-2009
As a Wharton-Engineering major who can orchestrate entire bharatnatyam pieces on the fly, Manika is the prototypical Masti genius. She wars with her counterpart, Tanvi Goel, for the 'Most Graceful of Masti' award.
When she's not enticing the Masti boys with her traditional yet scintillatingly sensual moves, Manika enjoys eating frozen yofurt while watching 'I Love Lucy,' playing tennis, anything related to Winnie the Pooh, shopping at Cerritos, and doing homework.

Varun Balan , SEAS'11 C'11
Webmaster 2008-2009
Varun is a good soul with an awesome heart. Oozing talent baby!!!. Dont believe me, see the masti in his eyes and in his silly infectious smile. Not only can he impress everyone with his dancing, but he’s also very good at playing the tabla. Affectionately known as Crush, Varun has some amazing Pythons, a.k.a. his muscles, that everyone in Masti is in awe of (even the other boys hee hee).
Hailing from Colarado, Varun is a big fan
of snowboarding and tennis. Varun is a prankster,
especially during Masti practices. One time
we caught him crawling on the floor with
his arms in Sona’s boots. Now we know how
to get the animal out of him...

the walk, Don't talk smack about the Pistons,
with her that's just dicey Don't be hatin'
on Taco Bell, cause this girl is spicy, But

Last one to leave the club, a true party girl
at heart, She's got so much Masti in her life,
the reading's off the chart.

Isha Mehta, C'11
Show Chair 2008-2009
Isha is pne of the sweetest and cutest girls you will ever meet,
Despite her youth, this girl can keep up with our longest standing Masti members, shaking her hips like a true Bollywood star.
Watch out for this one- she is definitely going to light up the stage!

Justin Charlap, M&T'11
One of the only two non-Indian members of Masti, Justin claims to have never danced before joining the team. Looking at his hot moves, you'd never guess that! He's been able to keep up and actually run far and away when it comes to mastering styles like bhangra and hip hop, and has developed his own style that charms us all.
An M&T-er at heart, this "Boston/ Florida" resident is a math geek but makes up for that by being Masti's premier piano player. If his dancing doesn't mesmerize you (and for that, you must not be normal), his music certainly will!

Andrew Choi, C'11
Vice President 2010-2011
This Asian kid is simply a choreo machine. And he's one of the chillest guys uou'll ever meet at Penn. The man is always smiling , always willing to try new things, and always helping out if someone doesn't quite get one of his insane hip-hop moves. Earlier this yea, he was a guinea pig for Isha's modern choreo. We're sure he enjoyed that!
PS: He also enjoys making obscure movie references to explain bhangra arm movements.

Neha Vijayvargiya, C'12
Show Chair 2009-2010
While
she may be the smallest member of Masti,
don't be fooled by Neha's size; this girl
packs a powerful punch of dancing fury!
Having learnt to dance before even learning
to walk, Neha has been rocking cribs across
America prior to arriving at Penn this year.
A fearsome junior, Neha enjoys partaking in the usual debauchery that defines the species. At practice, Neha always comes armed with a smile, ready to be used as a test dummy for Masti's next high-flying stunt. When she's not in the air, Neha can hold her own on the dance floor dancing with the best of Masti. No matter where she's at, Neha will always be sure to keep you entertained!

Vani Sastri, WH'12
Show Chair 2009-2010
Recent winner of the "Most Likely to Leave Practice to Play in the Snow" award, Ms. Vani Sastri is easily one of the most lovable members of the team.
Always coming to practice with an awesome smile and continuous enthusiasm, Vani is sure to put everyone on Masti in a good mood. Plus, this one has got some fiery choreography and always lights up our dances.
Hailing all the way from Chennai, Vani loves to walk her dog at home, dance around her room, and work on her incredible Borat impression *high-five*. All in all, Vani brings mad dance skills, a huge smile, and a big heart, and Masti would not be the same without her!

Karan Dhruve, M&T'12
Technical Chair 2009-2010
Karan brings a lot to the table when it comes to Masti. After, 5 practices, he had finished choreographing 3 dances while the rest of us were still working on our first ones. We were all like....GOD way to make us look bad. He comes up with amazing choreography, and not just that, but when he dances, he brings so much life into the dance. It's not just the way he smiles or puts a lot of energy into the dance, his personality really shows when he dances.
He's really really down to earth and fun to talk to. He helps keep the practices running smoothly. If he had to be given a title for the junior class, it would have to be the "most sane one..."

Nicky Singh, C'12
When he is not being incredible at running the marathon, playing tennis, basketball, football, cow tipping (yeah Iowa), baseball or at the gym prepping for another marathon, Nicky Singh lives up to being the “pind da shera” with his ridiculously remarkable bhangra choreo and unbeatable bhangra spirit. Don’t believe us? Ask him to show you his epic bhangra to Miley Cyrus.
We don’t know how he does it all, but this gem also seems to be kicking some hard core Vagelos butt assisted by the mini naps he takes on Huntsman GSR tables or computer desks (evidence available, pictures taken at 7.20am and 3.53pm).
Watch out for this multitalented chap, he is bound to take your breather away!

Shama Jamal, WH'12
Public Relations Chair 2009-2010
If you meet a girl at 1:35 outside Huntsman Hall, and she talks to you for 5 minutes before saying "Damn! I'm late for my 1:30 class!", you have undoubtedly bumped into Shama. She is a lively person, who never seems to be stressed out. You know you're talking to Shama when she says "I have my 5 page paper due tomorrow morning. I'm going to watch a little TV and then go start writing it." She is definitely the star Bhangra performer of the newbie class: doing Bhangra brings immense satisfaction to Shama which is reflected in the wide smile on her face.
She definitely gets half the audience to drop their jaws with her eye movements. She has been rocking the stage since her very first performance, and will definitely continue to do so.

Reshmi Oberoi, C'12
Reshmi's a sophomore whose classical dance will leave you breathless. All her moves flow amazingly and her spins are perfect. Her choreo is pretty baller as well. Yet the coolest thing about her is her passion for dance and how excited she is to learn new and exciting styles she hasn't tried before, like hip hop.
Every time she hits the floor, her contagious smile lights up the audience. Granted, this same contagious smile made it difficult for her to stay alive in our game of Masti Mafia because everyone had a feeling she was hiding something =) I'd have to say, though, that slightly shortened Mafia time is probably worth the smile.

Shikha Saxena, C'13
It's best to descibe Shikha with an incident: while choreographing a hip-hop track, Andrew had the brilliant idea of having the girls do a backflip after they fall into their partners' arms. Shikha, being the helpful, tiny, little friend she is, enthusiastically agreed to help Trisha. "Oh, it's easy! I'll teach you!!!" So she hopped over to Trisha and proceeded to lift her legs in the air. As Shikha kept pulling Trisha's legs higher into the air, she also started pulling her pants off. Others started laughing, but Shikha just looked very confused as to what was going on. Shikha is a bright, friendly person (who also makes the strangest of faces).

|
Trisha Sanghavi, C'13
Trisha is extremely ambitious and is involved with many activities outside of Masti. And within Masti, she always puts forth her best effort and creativity in everything she does. ! She picks up the steps so quickly and even offers her own hot moves for the dance. She also rocks at Classical (check out her Arangetram video on youtube... so prettyyy!)
Trisha is also known for her many signature moves. These include the peacock - best demonstrated with a panasian fan - and another move simply entitled, "The Trisha." Somehow these moves always seem to get almost incorporated into the dances, until Andrew notices and exercises his veto powers ;). With Trisha, there is never a dull moment. She has a talent of connecting with people and always making their day brighter. She is fun-loving and has a contagious laugh, that sometimes arises five seconds after we were all laughing, and that just makes us start laughing again.
